An object that sensorially enriches the experience of being inside a car
Censer is an innovative essence diffuser which is not just an accessory, but a real extension of the new Range Rover Velar. As part of Land Rover project for the 2017 Paris Design Week, Censer is born as an exclusive detail that blends the iconic features of Velar.
Its 18k gold plated body, shaped through a 3D printing process, hides inside an Alumina ceramic core able to absorb the desired perfume and release the aroma over time. The finishing touch is the hidden lace that allows Censer to be a design complement of Velar’s sleek interiors, hanging from the rearview mirror.
Our purpose is twofold: first of all, questioning the typical appearance of car essence diffusers; and then upgrading personalization. By allowing people to use their own fragrance, we have created an object that is not only an extension of the car, but also an extension of the driver. From a first glance, the design lines in common with Nuova Velar catch the eye: the soft shapes of the car were a source of inspiration. The gold color alludes to the car's metallic details, while the air intakes echo the honeycomb pattern of the Nuova Velar grille.
Beyond aesthetics, we wanted innovation to be the other protagonist of the project. The box is made with a 3D printer, and the capsule on which the perfume is sprayed, absorbs the fragrance and releases it for a long time thanks to the innovative technology.
