Products with a magical, elusive spark that make the world a little better
Today’s world is characterized by a redundancy of products. Offecct’s will is to step away from this trend of excess. The goal of the company is to produce furniture that can bring true value to people and society. Their briefs always start with this simple request – that the products have that magical, elusive spark that can make the world a little better. We couldn't ask for a better premise to a long and fruitful collaboration.
Murano Armchair (2018) pays a tribute to Luca Nichetto’s origins. In this furniture piece, plainness and elegance inherent in the classical Scandinavian furniture design meets modern lines that evoke the fluidity and malleability of Venetian heat-treated glass. The seat and backrest are moulded by the structure, like the tools that shape the hot glass. A minimal metal tubular defined by smooth curves ending in a small offset can be used as a handle or a hook for bags or coats.

It took us a couple of years of research and refinement to make the Phoenix chair (2016). We named it after the immortal firebird of Greek myth to convey its sustainability: if a part is damaged, it can be easily replaced with a new one, while the old part can be disposed of and recycled. We made an aesthetic asset out of its structural simplicity, while the bold curve has the function to provide perfect comfort.

In Chris Cunningham’s video for Bjork’s "All is Full of Love", a pair of robots appear to gain emotional human consciousness, ultimately kissing and hugging. The idea for the Robo chair (2010) was inspired by this film. We used environmentally friendly materials for its construction. Similarly to Meccano toys, which can be constructed and dismantled, the Robo’s separate components can be disassembled and placed in a compact box, allowing easy transport.
We got inspired by the architecture of the 1960s, which often treated vegetation as an integral aspect of the design, when creating Greenpads (2011). These stool-like stands for potted plants consist of a single aluminium leg topped with several saucer-like trays. Greenpads can be placed alone or in clusters, allowing to create large patches of greenery to enhance air quality and ambiance of an environment.
Notes (2014) is an eco-friendly room divider that allows the user to easily transform the acoustics of a room. Its five sandwiched felt screens, all brightly coloured and distinctly shaped, are highly flexible and can be rearranged sideways to create partitions and openings, affecting both the look and sound of a space. Notes is inspired by the Venetian habit of hanging fresh laundry on lines high above the street, a practice that muffles even the loudest sounds from the streets below.
