Wittmann
An imaginary journey through the sophistication of Viennese salons and Venetian palazzos
CREATIVE DIRECTION
Our collaboration with Wittmann celebrates the value of communicating shortened distances. How? By sharing and building a common ground, merging two design languages and giving birth to collections rooted in the Viennese tradition while embracing Italian classicism. In 2021 the brand appointed Luca Nichetto creative director, giving us the honor and the privilege to both design for the company and at the same time conduct an ensemble of creatives to compose jointly a new vision for the brand and for Austrian design heritage at large.
SPRING COLLECTION 2022
Under Luca’s creative guidance Wittmann had launched a new array of products, all united by a common aim: designing and producing high-quality products that fill an empty spot in the current global market. Our contribution to the brand’s catalog are several brand new designs. Tuky, a sculpture-like side table inspired by the peculiar forms of the toucan, with a base and top that merge fluidly. The Paradise Bird Armchair FB, the Sofa FB and the High-Back Chair, trading the extravagant metal frame of the original Paradise Bird family with a precisely finished upholstered curved shell. The Andes swivel, a chair with a delicately rounded metal base that quotes a poetic silverware set designed by Josef Hoffmann.MONUMENTAL, A BESPOKE EXHIBIT
On the occasion of Milan Design Week we designed Monumental, a bespoke interior installation showcasing the brand's products as true works of art. The format of the exhibit was conceived to be applicable not only during Salone del Mobile, but in any other circumstance, including showrooms and upcoming trade fairs. The result is an ongoing monumental celebration of the brand and its core values.WORKSHOP COLLECTION
Wittmann Nichetto Workshop Collection, presented to the public in 2020, is a research on how emotional aesthetics can strongly intertwine with functionality. The objects of the collection are inspired by Josef Hoffmann's patterns, jewels and abstract geometries and center around dining, working and sleeping areas. The Workshop collection consists of a sofa system, low tables, side tables, poufs, ottoman, beds, lounge chair, lamps that offer endless settings possibilities.

PARADISE BIRD
Paradise Bird family comes as part of the Wittmann – Nichetto Workshop conceived to extend the values of the collection to the lounge environment. It balances shape and essence, through a bold design that is elegant and flexible. As a detail that pays tribute to Josef Hoffmann’s design, a frame in metal with a vertical grid characterises the structure, playing as embracing backrests or graceful support.Shooting the Wittmann Nichetto Workshop collection both in Venice, our birthplace, and Vienna, where Wittmann is located, was the natural consequence of a concept that merged the cultural identities of the two companies. To tie in the Venetian design influence and highlight the use of Rubelli textiles, the first part of the collection was photographed at the Rubelli HQ, a historic palazzo in Venice.
The extension of the Wittmann Nichetto Collection was presented at the beginning of 2021 through a set of images set in Vienna.
