Kaos

Despite having its own distinctive properties, porcelain is often used as an artificial substitute for other materials. Kaos is a porcelain tile that combines traditional methods of crafting porcelain with contemporary innovations such as digital printing; Kaos fuses the old and the new to highlight porcelain’s hidden structural details. The tile’s mottled texture is based on an image of porcelain’s molecular structure, which was then used to generate a relief. The Kaos tiles thereby reveal their own materiality.
