Matter Made is a New York City based gallery, showroom and manufacturer representing a refined selection of national and international contemporary design.This philosophy guides Matter Made in choosing collaborations with influential and innovative designers like Jonah Takagi, Jamie Gray, Philippe Malouin, Objects of Common Interest, Visibility, Jonathan Zawada, Henry Julier, Faye Toogood, Pedro Paulo Venzon, Ana Kraš, Oeuffice, Sergio Rodrigues.

Our collaboration with the gallery comprises two collections of pendant lights that combine a clear design with a strong conceptual focus on craftsmanship.

FROM SMALL CHANDELIERS TO BIGGER COMPOSITIONS

Like a musical score where every note is played in a smooth and connected manner, Legato lighting system represents the stave where notes, in the shape of cones, are organized so to compose different melodies. Every lamp is anchored on a rigid aluminium multi-tier structure, where each tier is an individual module that allows different combinations. The double directionality of the light sources creates a play of reflections and shadows between the cones, emphasizing the volumes.

“ROTEARE”, ITALIAN FOR “TWIRLING”

It is from the careful and precise spinning movement applied to the hot liquid glass that Rotea pendant lamps collection takes its name and features. “Roteare”, the Italian word for “twirling”, is the technique used by master craftsmen in Murano to create the blown glass covers of Rotea. Apple shaped as a tribute to the New Yorker brand, the shades are available in four different versions, highlighting the wisdom of the artisanal gesture through the uniqueness of each piece. The internal light bulb enlivens the distinctive textures of Rotea, generating light effects through transparencies and opacities.
