Hermès creates dreams for its clients, from its luxury products to the impressive window displays in its shops, capable of uplifting the viewer’s state of being. Hermès windows are whimsical and dramatic. They’ve been for years a way for the brand to champion artists and creatives by giving them an avenue to showcase their work.
After visiting our Milan installation Pyrae / Strata in 2017, Hermes asked us to work on an installation (2018) to inaugurate their renovated boutique on Piazza San Marco 1292, in Venice. The brief consisted of a specific theme: Playful.
The theme “Playful” allowed us to conceptualize on the purity of a child’s imagination. The shop window represents a journey through the toys, colours and textures of childhood and an ode to the power of imagination.
The palette of colors with its whites and pinks was inspired by the Venetian palaces. On the cheerful scene of an imaginary board game, the display was transformed into a box of multicoloured elements made of Murano mouth blown glass. These elements were mixed with Hermès products, giving rise to combinations that the imagination transforms into figures, places and fantastical situations.
